Information About the Crash
On April 16, 2025, AAPD shared details of a fatal crash investigation in a media release on their department Facebook page. The post described how on April 15, a 64 year old man from Livonia, later identified as Gary Nikkila, was found unresponsive under a gravel hauler. The incident was also covered in an article in MLIVE.

The nature of this tragic incident is outside of the scope of CIAA, which typically covers crashes and the infrastructure and policies that may have contributed to them. CIAA will update this post if further details emerge indicating the need for policy or infrastructure changes to prevent similar incidents in the future.
