Green Rd. Bicycle Crash (August, 2024)

Information About the Crash

The September City Administrator’s report included details of a car/cyclist crash on Green Rd. that occurred on  August 19, 2024 and resulted in a serious injury.

AAPD released the UD-10 report and the full case report with the crash reconstruction records to CIAA in November, 2024.  The documents describe how a cyclist, riding in the bike lane, was seriously injured during a right hook crash as a motorist turned into a driveway.  The driver left the scene of the crash and the incident was investigated as a hit-and-run.

CIAA visited the scene of the crash in September, 2024 and collected photographs of the area.  There are three driveways on the west side of Green near Plymouth.  The dispatch notes describe the crash at the driveway across from Busch’s”.

On this straight road, with no obstacles or obstructions, the infrastructure does not appear to have been a significant factor in the crash.

An email update from the Washtenaw County Prosecutor’s office sent on January 23, 2025 said that the case is still under review and that a final decision about charging the driver in connection with this crash has not yet been made.  CIAA will update this post if more information about the crash or the hit-and-run investigation is released.

11/9/2025 Update: the driver was charged with Failure to Stop at Scene of Accident Resulting in Serious Impairment.
