Geddes and Hill Bike Crash

Information About The Crash

CIAA learned from the December City Administrator’s Report about a November 6 crash at the corner of Geddes and HIll.

The UD-10 report describes how a cyclist was headed northbound on Hill and didn’t stop at the stop sign at the corner of Hill and Geddes.

The downhill on Northbound Hill St. is steep enough for a cyclist to achieve high speeds.

During a visit to the site in February, the stop sign was not obscured by vegetation, though it’s impossible to know if that was true in November when the crash occurred.

Without more details or a statement from the cyclist, it’s difficult to draw any conclusions about what may have contributed to this crash.  However, signage warning of a steep hill and a stop sign ahead might help to warn cyclists and drivers about the conditions they will encounter at this intersection.
