Huron and Thayer Bicycle Crash (December, 2025)

Information About the Crash

The January, 2026 City Administrator’s report included details of a vehicle/cyclist crash at Huron near Thayer.  The crash occurred on December 4, 2025 and the administrator’s report classified the injury as B level (suspected minor injury). The narrative of the UD-10, obtained from www.michigantrafficcrashfacts.org, describes that the cyclist’s arm was broken by the crash.  Injuries that include a broken or distorted extremity should be classified as A level (suspected serious injury), according to Michigan’s  UD-10 crash reporting manual.  AAPD personnel later updated the severity of the crash to A.

This crosswalk has, unfortunately, been featured in a CIAA post before.  The recommendations to take control back from MDOT and to reduce the number of lanes on Huron are, apparently, still as relevant as ever.
